Just above Lake Coleridge Lodge, Events and Function Centre "Canterbury's best kept secret" is Lake Coleridge. It is a large Canterbury high country lake that is a real gem and is the lifeblood of this area. It supports New Zealand's largest population of landlocked Chinook salmon, both brown and rainbow trout. The Lake Coleridge valley has a large variety of spring fed streams, lakes and rivers.
Lake Coleridge itself lies between the Canterbury ranges of Torlesse and Mt Hutt near Rakaia, at the foot of the Southern Alps. This makes for a truly stunning day on the lake both from a fishing viewpoint and from the scenery that surrounds you.
Lake Coleridge, one of the Rakaia group of 10 lakes, the largest in Canterbury. It is 18km long, up to 200 meters deep and covers just over 3,500ha. It is a truly stunning part of the world, so if fishing doesn't please sit back and enjoy the vista.
Lake Seasons are, Summer season runs from 1st October to the end of April and, Winter season runs from 1st June to the end of August.
If the lake doesn't tickle your fancy then our Rivers are even closer. The Rakaia is just 500m from our door and its mangnificant Trout and get your timing right and you will even catch the annual sea-run Salmon ...... what more could you ask for ?
Don't forget you will ned a fishing licence and a chilly bin and ice to take your catch home !
