The Lodge
Lake Coleridge Lodge Retreat is located within an easy and comfortable drive of the main New Zealand centre of Christchurch, on the South Island or more commonly referred to as 'the Mainland'.
The Lodge is located just past Lake Coleridge village approximately 500 meters beyond the road entrance to the historic Lake Coleridge hydropower station. Lake Coleridge village is accessed via Coleridge road, which adjoins the main state highway #77 at Windwhistle Junction close by to the nearby Rakaia Gorge Bridge.
Arrival into the area is by a variety of options but mostly will involve a vehicular journey of some form. Motorised or not ? Either is a great choice for this area.
The roads to the Lodge are smooth and well sealed, providing fast and enjoyable travelling conditions as you venture through some of the world's most outstanding landscape scenery. In winter the roads are seldom blocked with snow or ice and are well treated, providing for safe driving conditions.
The most likely road blockage you are likely to see is the local inhabitants who may come out to greet you and wish you well on your travels !

The most typical journey will start at Christchurch or its Airport,
1. Starting from Christchurch, head for the "West Coast" or state highway #73.
2. Head along this highway for approximately 22Km passing through the small settlement of West Melton. Here you will notice a BP fuel station on your left, a good place to top-up the tank !
3. After 22.0Km, or approximately 5km from West Melton, leave the "West Cost Highway" state highway #73 and bear left over the railway line and crossing onto Bealey Rd - signposted to Hororata. You can continue along the "West Cost" or state highway #73 if you like and travel via Darfield but, this takes about 15 minutes longer. A much more scenic route but for those wishing a direct route to the Lodge, read on,
4. Head straight through to Hororata village and at the roundabout within the centre of the village, taking the first left exit, signposted to Lake Coleridge.
5. Continue straight along this road for approximately another further 15km and you arrive at the state highway #77 junction at Windwhistle.
6. Straight ahead and directly in front of you across state highway #77 is Coleridge Road, head straight on and for Lake Coleridge Village not the Lake ! This is important as you pass the lake junction about 5km from the Village, do not turn here but continue to the Village.
7. On arriving in Lake Coleridge Village continue straight on passing the small settlement of houses and green areas on your left and later, the access road to the historic hydropower station. Bear right and continue on Hummocks road for a further 500m and you will arrive at Lake Coleridge Lodge, you final destination
Not all journeys will take you this way and whichever way you arrive, Lake Coleridge Lodge Retreat is an easy destination to locate.
